Unlocking the Palo Verde Mystery
July 5th, 2010 § Leave a Comment
Today I went out to Greasewood Park and hiked around a bit. I couldn’t avoid taking some bar study materials with me, so I ran thru a set of constitutional law questions. Finishing that as quickly as I responsibly could, I eventually got to move on to my real purpose in coming. My quest was to determine how to tell the difference between a blue palo verde and a foothills palo verde using characteristics other than their coloring (which I can’t rely on since I often don’t see a difference). Running back and forth between the trees on the hillside and those at the bottom of the wash, and with the help of a desert guidebook, I noted the primary characteristics of the trees (beyond their color) and I think I’ve noticed enough of the differences to be able to distinguish them on sight.
That was fun and exciting, but now it’s back to boring old torts.
